The Lochurst neighborhood was initially a dairy farm operated by the Fowler family of the Grandview area. While the Grandview water tower still stands proudly in the neighborhood, Grandview is an area of Pfafftown which was incorporated into the City of Winston-Salem, NC. Lochurst is a tight-knit neighborhood that features many sought after amenities like a neighborhood pool, tennis courts, playground, common areas, fishing ponds, social calendar, and neighborhood website with news and bulletin board.

The Lochurst Neighborhood was started in 1989 and is comprised of homes built between the early 1990’s and 2000’s. The majority of homes in Lochurst are traditional brick two-story homes ranging from 2300-4000sqft with 3-5 bedrooms. Many homes foundations are basements with garages due to the rolling piedmont topography.

Lochurst Amenities

Lochurst features many attractive community amenities with the primary feature being the neighborhood pool. The community pool with attached pavillion is 40’x80’ with 125,000 gallons for plenty of room for all! Behind the pool is the double tennis courts with contrasting blue and green paint. Across the street is a large grassy field with a rubber mulched playground. Several spring fed ponds dot the Lochurst and attract Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks, and fish. Additional street lights have been installed for added security and convenience. The neighborhood amenities are covered in the annual HOA dues and at this time no additional fees are required for pool membership etc.

The Lochurst HOA is an internally operated HOA that is passionate about making Lochurst a wonderful place to live and own a home.

Many public amenities are also available including the Old Town Community Center with Basketball Courts, Computer Lab, Fitness Trail, Meeting Rooms, Playground, Shelter, Soccer Field, Softball Fields, and Tennis Courts. Historic Bethania with walking trails, visitors center, gift shop and the Muddy Creek Cafe and Music. Next to Jefferson Middle School is the Muddy Creek Greenway which is a multi-use trail running for 2.9 miles. A great afternoon trip for hiking can be had at the Pilot Mountain State Park or Hanging Rock State Park.
