A Great Laundry Space is Key to Making this Chore Fun!
Most people spend a lot of time in the laundry room, but it isn’t their favorite room in their house. The good news? By implementing task-based design and adding some other great functionality, you can create a laundry room that you truly love! Whether you are building a new laundry room or updating an existing one, here are some ways to make the most of your space:
Organization – Gather all laundry supplies in a cabinet in your laundry room. Make sure to keep things organized so you can quickly find what you need. For some laundry organization tips, click here.
Folding and drying – Think about installing a countertop so you have a place to fold clothes when they come out of the dryer. You may also consider putting a hanging rack in your laundry space so non-dryer-friendly clothing can be hung there to dry or items fresh from the dryer that you don’t want to fold can be placed there. If you are working with a small space, consider installing a fold-down table for folding or a wall-mount clothing valet for hanging.
Ironing and steaming – Make sure to have a place where you can iron and steam clothes. Many people prefer a fold-out ironing board because it saves space. Some fold-out ironing boards are even equipped with spotlights and electrical outlets.
No matter the layout of your laundry room, it is easier to spend time there if the room makes you feel happy. Decorate your laundry room in a way that complements your other home décor and expresses your family’s personality. Fun wallpapers or paint colors or floor tiles are great ways to brighten up a laundry room.
